Still Here

We are still in the hospital today. Isaiah’s infection seems to be healing nicely. They believe that it started from the inside out, so there is nothing we could have done differently to avoid it. The pediatric team still thinks that he had the intussusception to begin with when he came in and that the infection started while he was there.

His sodium levels are still kind of unpredictable, and they are still working on getting his dose of DDAVP right to control them, which is why we are not home yet. This is going to be an ongoing battle for us. Every time something little changes, it can throw his level off. So we always have to be careful about when and how much we feed him.

Yesterday, they said that today might be the day we get to go home, but I am not too hopeful. Every time we think we are going to go home, it seems like something else keeps  us there.

But Isaiah is still in good spirits. We can tell he feels much better now that his infection is healed. The little guy is getting pretty antsy and wild. He just wants to get up and play. I had them bring a play mat into his room yesterday and he loves to be up on his hands and knees. I am hopeful that he will be able to crawl sometime. He seems to be getting stronger everyday now that he is getting the nutrition he needs through his g-tube. The only bummer is that he doesn’t really take the bottle orally anymore, but we still try every time.
